OUR CARE SYSTEM FOR DOMESTIC WASHING MACHINES

Rethinking how we clean our clothes

Our XC technology can be integrated and scaled to enhance front-loading washing machines through the combination
of our patented XDrum and XOrb technology.

XC1 is designed to be integrated into any domestic washing machine. The closed system releases XOrbs into specially
designed wash programmes to reduce the environmental impact of caring for our clothes.

Using XOrbs allows for a significant reduction of water, chemistry and energy, with the benefit of a gentler
mechanical action to improve wash performance and better care for fabrics allowing them to last longer.
At the end of the cycle, the XDrum collects the XOrbs back into their storage system.

Our team supports wash cycle development and the technical transfer process to enable our technology to work
seamlessly with your products.

CARING FOR FABRIC

Extending the life of the clothes we wear

When we wash our clothes we damage them. Colours from dye can run into lighter garments. Our clothes can shrink, and the mechanical action of garments rubbing together in a machine can damage prints and fabrics which leads to ‘pilling’ or bobbling of fibres. No matter how carefully we wash them, they wear and tear.

XOrbs work like tiny hands. They roll between fabrics stopping fibres from rubbing together reducing damage and surface fading. The characteristics of XOrbs mean they attract dye molecules in the water which stops them from transferring onto other clothes. Their weight helps keep fibres taught, even when wet, to reduce shrinking. Clothes are less creased, softer and have an extended lifespan.

Consuming less and wearing our clothes for longer are simple changes we can make to minimise our impact on the planet and our revolutionary Care technology can help with this. In house tests show that XC1 can extend the lifespan of your clothes, reducing your carbon, water and waste footprint by around 20-30%. Tuned to provide fabric specific care benefits, XC1 can also reduce water usage by 38% whilst creating a significant uplift in cleaning performance.

Designed for the future

2,500 people from the UK, Germany and France shared their washing habits and what they are looking for when they purchase a new machine. After wash performance and reliability, environmental impact was the next purchasing consideration. The research also showed that using less water, washing at lower temperatures and protecting garments was of most interest.

There is an increasing awareness around environmental issues and it’s reported that 73% of consumers today, would actively change their habits to reduce their environmental impact if they had the option. Almost a third of surveyed consumers are very concerned about leading a sustainable lifestyle, and one in five would very much like to buy innovative tech to help lessen their personal impact on the environment.

One in three would be willing to pay more to help combat sustainability issues.

Euromonitor outlined sustainability as the top trend at CES 2023 and stated that “implementing sustainable practices faster than competitors enhances brand reputation and potential market share.” By integrating XC1 brands have the opportunity to provide a cutting edge product feature which significantly lessens environmental impact, adding competitive advantage in a crowded market place.

XEROS x IFB INDUSTRIES

XC1 to launch in India

1.4 billion people make India the second most populated country in the world and it is forecast to overtake China in the next few years. By 2030 its economic growth is expected to grow 4x. Water scarcity affects millions of people in India every year. Soaring heatwaves last year were amplified by the growing impact of climate change. Xeros is partnering with IFB Industries, one of India’s leading appliance manufacturers, to transform how clothes are cared for using less water, energy and chemistry. IFB has been innovating washing machines for over 30 years and is a household name in India with over 6 million customers.

IFB will launch their domestic washing machine product using our care technology later this year. If a million customers start washing with XOrbs they could save over 4 billion litres of water every year, enough to meet the basic needs for water and sanitation for over 200,000 people for a whole year. We are proud to partner with organisations that share our vision for a better future.

Integrating XC1

The XDrum Gen 02 is a system that stores, deploys and recaptures our patented, reusable XOrbs into the wash load for use in specially designed domestic laundry cycles. It is designed to be incorporated into a machine at manufacture, allowing the use of XOrbs whilst still allowing the option of conventional cycles to be run without XOrbs.

The XOrbs disrupt the traditional cleaning process by replacing harsh fabric on fabric interaction with gentle mechanical action. XOrbs gentle mechanical action mean they are highly effective at delivering high wash efficacy whilst also caring for fabrics by reducing friction and abrasion in the wash.

Xeros Care technology is scalable from domestic washers to heavy industrial use.

Our robust XC technology can be been scaled up to function in commercial drum sizes as large as 2,000L, and is currently in use with our parters across the laundry sector. Georges SAS specialise in the cleaning and maintenance of workwear and said “by using patented XOrb technology from our partner Xeros Technology, we extend the life of your clothes whilst consuming 5 times less water, 2 times less electricity and 2 times less detergent. Our clients SNCF have experienced around 20% (12 – 18 months) garment life extension since working with Georges and Xeros Care technology.” Find out more about our XC2 technology.

Our technologies are designed to reduce waste wherever possible, helping resources to last longer.
